Challenger is an Australian domiciled publicly listed financial services company. It has a market capitalisation of A$1.7 billion and forms part of the S&P/ASX 100.
Challenger Financial Services Group was formed by a merger between Challenger International Limited and CPH Investment Corp in mid 2003. Today, Challenger has three core business lines servicing the needs of financial intermediaries and their clients:
- Challenger Life, which invests over A$3 billion1 of proprietary investment funds in a wide range of property, infrastructure and fixed interest assets, financed through a combination of debt, fixed rate, fixed term annuitant obligations and equity, providing retirement income stream products to Australian retirees.
- Challenger Wholesale Finance is the sixth largest mortgage company in Australia, with a mortgage book of over A$18 billion1 focused on prime residential, non-conforming residential and commercial property lending.
- Challenger Wealth Management, which manufactures investment products for both institutional and retail clients and provides financial planning services. At the end of June 2005, over 68,000 Australians had more than A$10 billion of their wealth invested in a range of investment products issued by Challenger.
Challenger aims to provide outstanding service with a low cost of operations, through the use of a common technology platform and a common distribution base. This focus enables Challenger to generate significant scale benefits, achieving high growth on a platform that requires low capital intensity.
Our passion at Challenger is to find better ways for Australians to achieve their financial goals.
The hallmark of Challenger's approach is its non-traditional thinking and the commitment of its people to the principles of compliance, commercial ownership, creative customer solutions, integrity and working together.
